"World War I and America"
Visit and interact with the museum’s temporary exhibit, “World War I and America”, sponsored by a grant received from the Library of America in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and the National Endowment for the Humanities. April 6, 2017 marked the 100th anniversary of the United States’entrance into World War I. Patrons will have a chance to walk through a WWI trench, learn what life was like for the soldiers and how Owensboro’s Homefront helped the war effort. The exhibit has been extended through April 30, 2018!

THE GRINCH AND FRIENDS STORYTELLING ADVENTURES! @ 11:00 a.m. Celebrate the 60th Birthday of The Grinch and The Cat in the Hat with regional storyteller Susan Fowler! Susan will share stories, songs, simple crafts and everyone can make a stocking to take home! Frosty, Scrooge and Rudolph may make a special appearance as well! H.O.P. (Healthy Owensboro Program) VISITS HISTORY!
H.O.P. (Healthy Owensboro Program) VISITS HISTORY! @ 2:00 p.m. Join us for a H.O.P. program about our region’s Native Americans and what they ate during the cold winter months! Visitors will explore the foods, customs and stories of “The Three Sisters” and have a chance to learn about healthy eating habits at the same time! We’ll gather around the Portable Demo Kitchen and discover the value of eating corn, beans and squash! Everyone can try some of the food we prepare and take home activity and recipe cards! WINTER WONDERLAND WITH BIRDS & VISIT WITH A LIVE OWL!
WINTER WONDERLAND WITH BIRDS & VISIT WITH A LIVE OWL @ 11:00 a.m. Winter is the perfect time to enjoy birds in your yard or in the woods. Members of the Daviess County Audubon Society will lead a fun session about birds who may be visiting your backyard feeder. Patrons will make a bird feeder, using sunflower butter, to take home and everyone will meet live birds of prey from the Nuture to Nature Rehabilitation Center!
