Join Cory Burdette On Sunday, 9 Jan @ 2:00 P.m. As He Presents "The Gator Navy: The Importance Of The LST In WWII And Beyond"
Don’t miss this interesting presentation from Owensboro native Cory Burdette! “The Gator Navy: The Importance of the LST in WW2 and Beyond” will be presented on Sunday, January 9th at 2:00PM at the museum. We hope to see you there!
Cory Burdette, a native of Owensboro, is no stranger to the world of museums. Having grown up in them all his life, Cory was inspired at a young age to explore and learn. Cory would go on to receive his Bachelor’s in History and Social Studies from Western Kentucky University in 2019. While working on his degree, Cory received first-hand experience in the museum world by joining the team at the Historic Railpark & Train Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Cory had a variety of experiences while working there for up to 3 years, ranging from working in the archives to giving tours to almost everything else in between. Various circumstances led Cory to joining the crew of the USS LST-325 Memorial in May of 2021. Cory’s presentation will be helping explain the purpose for an LST, their impact in WW2 as well as talking about the USS LST-325 Memorial Inc. and their mission, as well as giving a little bit of insight to what it is like to work for a museum. Cory is very excited to present: “The Gator Navy: The Importance of the LST in WW2 and Beyond” on January 9th, 2022 at 2 pm, at the Owensboro Museum of Science & History in downtown Owensboro, Kentucky. There will be a question/answer session following the presentation.
