FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Does the museum provide food and drink for the parties?
OMSH does not currently provide food or drink for parties, but you are welcome to bring in whatever you would like. You can even have pizza delivered if you wish, but you must be present to take delivery of the food.
I only wish to invite a few children to the party, but would like to include their parents and some adult relatives. Would I have to pay for them, also?
OMSH considers any person who attends your party a guest, whether they are a child or an adult. Please take that into consideration as you select/renew your membership level, as various membership packages include birthday party packages that greatly reduce or cover guest fees.
We would like to reserve Speedzeum Basement for our exclusive use during the party. Is that possible?
OMSH keeps all galleries open for the public’s enjoyment during regular museum hours unless maintenance needs to be completed on a specific gallery. If you wish to reserve a gallery for exclusive use, it is considered a museum rental and must be done during non-museum hours. Private rentals are a bit costlier and depend upon staff availability for your desired date and time. Please contact the museum at 687-2732 for more information on this and other options.
We’d like to have an animal talk for our guests during the party. Is that included in the price of the party?
Depending on staff availability, a reptile talke with a live snake can be scheduled when making reservations. There is an additional $25 fee for the short presentation. Please inquire about availability when making your reservations.
What about clean-up?
OMSH asks that you clean up the reserved party area to the best of your ability before leaving the premises.
We’d like to extend the length of our party by 30 minutes. Can we do that?
The reserved party area time limit is two hours. However, there is no limit to the amount of time that the party can spend in the museum. The museum closes promptly at 5pm, and all party guests must leave by that time.
Is there preferred child/adult ratio for the parties?
Depending on the age of the children, it is suggested that there be one adult for every 10 children. Party host(s) are responsible for the behavior and well-being of their guests.
What do I need to do to reserve a party at the museum?
Please call the museum at 687-2732 and ask for Peggy Welsh. It is suggested to have a back-up date in mind for your party in case your desired date is already reserved by someone else. If Todd is not available, please leave a message and he will return your call as soon as possible. A confirmation form for your party will be mailed or faxed to you at least one week before the reserved date. You must bring a copy of your confirmation to the party to present to the staff member on duty.
