Regional WWII Veterans

In search of a World War II Veteran?

While there is not a composite listing of World War II veterans*, there are several ways to find information free of charge.

Our Daviess County Public Library’s Kentucky Room’s staff can help point researchers to the proper resources for WWII veterans’ records. These library resources can be accessed free of charge.

You may also use your DCPL Library Card to access their resources online at www.dcplibrary.org.

*World War II veterans enlisted at many different sites across the country. In our area many men and women traveled to Evansville, Indiana for their physicals and inductions into the military. Those private military records are stored at various facilities with no access to a comprehensive list of veterans by war.

Our local newspaper, the Owensboro Messenger/Owensboro Messenger & Inquirer documented many events throughout the war. We have downloaded the M&I’s 1945 salute to our local veterans that gave their all in WWII.
